We are always happy to help you understand what coverage makes sense for your life today and where you’re headed.

I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and moved to Huntsville at the age of three with my parents and younger sister. I attended Catholic High School and Huntsville High School, then continued my education at Birmingham-Southern College and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After college, I spent several years living in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Nashville, Tennessee before returning to North Alabama in 2017.

Before becoming an Agent, I spent over five years as a State Farm Agent Team Member and trained as a First Time Agent Candidate, giving me a strong foundation in helping customers with everything from everyday coverage questions to more complex needs.

Today, I’m proud to be one of three State Farm Agents in Guntersville, and currently the only one licensed to offer money Allocation Advice Representative services. That means I can support customers not only with protecting what they have now, but also with preparing for long-term financial goals through customized guidance. My connection to State Farm runs deep - my grandfather was a customer in the 1950s, followed by my dad, and now me. But my passion for this work, especially Life Insurance, is also very personal. I lost my mom unexpectedly to a brain aneurysm in 2007 when she was just 47. That experience shaped how I approach every conversation. I understand firsthand how important it is to have protection in place, and more importantly, to feel supported when life takes an unexpected turn.

Whether you’re looking to protect your home and auto, explore life coverage, or understand how to prepare for your financial future, I’m here to help guide you through it. Stop by or give me a call here in Guntersville - I’d love to connect.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What's an effective way to get car insurance quotes?

A: Getting a car insurance quote is easier than you might think. You can start online, give our office a call, or stop by to talk through your options. We'll help walk you through coverage choices and help you find something that fits your needs. Looking for coverage? Talk with Alex about your options in Guntersville.

Q: How soon can I get insured for my car?

A: In some cases, car insurance coverage can begin the same day you purchase a policy. The timing may vary depending on your situation. We can help you get coverage quickly when you need it. For personalized coverage in Guntersville, AL, reach out to Alex.

Q: What are the insurance requirements on a leased car?

A: Leased vehicles typically require more coverage than the state minimums. In addition to liability insurance, leasing companies usually require comprehensive and collision coverage, and you may need to list the leasing company on your policy as an additional insured or loss payee. Alex is proud to serve the Guntersville community.

Q: How would you explain renters insurance?

A: Renters insurance is a simple way to help protect your personal belongings and provide liability coverage while you're renting. Since your landlord's policy typically covers the building itself, this type of coverage is designed to help protect you and the things you own. Serving Guntersville and the surrounding area, Alex can help answer your questions.

Q: How does life insurance work?

A: Life insurance provides a payout to your chosen beneficiaries if you pass away while the policy is active. It can help give your loved ones financial support when they may need it most. Have questions? Alex in Guntersville can walk you through your options.

Q: Do you have to have home insurance?

A: Whether homeowners insurance is required depends on your situation and may vary by state. If you have home financing, your lender will likely require it. Even if it's not required, many people choose to have coverage to help protect their home and everything that comes with it. Alex works with Guntersville residents to find coverage that fits.

Alex Gum State Farm differentiates itself by leading with honesty, preparation and presence...Not price.

We lead with simple conversations... not quick quotes. Many insurance agencies focus on low introductory rates and quick transactions. We take the time to understand our customers’ families, businesses, financial goals, and exposure to risk, so proper coverage is in place well before it is needed.

We prepare our customers for the unexpected - before it happens. Our approach is proactive and not reactive. We help customers understand what could happen, how policies respond, and what gaps exist before there's a loss so there are no surprises.

This mindset is personal. After losing my mother unexpectedly at 22, I understand how fast life can change and how critical preparation truly is.
